Lonely Days The
Brothers Gibb, 1970

PORTRAIT

Self she sees through others eyes:
empty ghost unseen
flesh she feels, hears own sighs
still she walks undreamed.

Untouched by other being,
lost, illusion walking
passing as an unheard wind
a voice as silence talking.

With each failure
stone and mortar placed
until the I in her
was lost to other face.

In vacuum chained
away from sunlight bidden
and the I in her
among the shadows hidden.

And so the need...
grown strong with every starkness
grasped the I in her
as it wove them in the darkness.

And then the two...
bound tightly into being
became the I in her
as they walked through life unseeing.

And now the mortar
crumbling wall to free
and the I in her...
is drowning in the need.©
