All I Have To Do Is Dream - The Everly Brothers
Words & Music by Boudleaux Bryant

IN HER EMPTY BED

In her empty bed she dreams
of lovers walking hand in hand
in meadows laced with golden streams
of sunlight in her faerie land.

Darkness ends and morning breaks,
in sadness she awakes to find,
the lovers every night she makes,
have quickly vanished to her mind.

Bond she dreamed remains in place,
the silence whispering a name,
one lonely tear a pathway makes,
of sorrow that she cannot tame.

Light of day brings emptiness,
extinguishes a dream with sun,
then fills a soul with loneliness,
a life of one, a life of none.

In her empty bed she dreams. ©
