SEA DREAM

In the soft afterglow of the evening
the breeze whispers low of the sea
and caresses the lady's sweet being
as she walks 'neath the nestling leaves.

The music plays loud in her dreaming
and lures to the path of the shore
her heart ever breathlessly seeming
waits as has waited before.

She stands at the point of the headland
raises her glance to horizon
in dream there's a touch to her hand
remembrance of arms she still lies in

Night wraps her gently in mem'ry
the smell of the ocean is strong
as she walks by the sands of the sea
and listens to yesterday's song.

A ship sails silently toward her
her breath stops then catches the beat
in wonder her feet move her forward
a tear trickling gently down cheek

From out of the mist steps her lover
returned on this night from the sea
Fiercely with kisses he covers
the one that he left to her dreams

In hunger she reaches to kiss him
to drown in the feel of his touch
to sink on the sand at the sea's rim
and take what she's wanted so much

The moon pierces quickly the night mist
the waves wipe the footprints from sand
the tear remains glistening and unkissed
Ocean breeze snatches back from held hand

She stands under night laced with moonbeams
and listens to sounds of the sea
and waits for the lover she still dreams
and the touch that will set her Soul free.©
