WALK ON

Wandering traveler, you've taken the bend
I've timidly taken before,
for me it seems never to end,
round each corner another door.

Every opening hides a new corner,
do not follow in my maze,
where sunlight's never warmer,
and ever seeking, never gaze.

Look outward wanderer, dare inward,
there are two worlds to understand,
skyward explorer and windward,
God's creation and inner land.

Dally near rippling mountain lakes,
run naked the sunlit meadows,
drink deeply, familiar forsake,
walk high crags and valley shadows.

Forward traveler, laughing,
toward beckoning aperture,
no bonds to keep you chaffing
no handcuffs, life-hiker endure.

Delve deeply of knowledge and wonder,
feel lightly the laughter and tears,
seek friendship, break hatred asunder,
share bravely the hopes and the fears.

Step boldly the path to the last door,
that borders on life's final bend,
stand firmly as always before
you walk not alone my friend. © rac 1970s
