Drifting Back

She gazes in the dim
at the photo on the wall,
the one she took of him
in memory of it all.

She drifts back to his smile
to the joy of his caress,
and walks for just awhile
with him in mind's recess.

She captures once again
the laughter of his heart,
and pushes back the pain
of lovers when they part.

Then slowly she returns
and faces life today
while longingly she yearns
for love that walked away.

MEMORY

I have the memories;
one three by five picture,
the love you had for me
which maybe will endure,
the bed on which we lay
as in love we wandered,
the dreaming where we strayed
mysteries we pondered,
the kiss you freely gave,
the touch for which you asked,
the heart you left engraved
with love for you at last.
You are my memory,
what am I to thee?
